William J Hurrle

Managing Partner

Will is the Managing Partner of Acuity Capital Group. He is responsible for overseeing all facets of the group’s investment activities and operations of all portfolio companies. 

 Will has been serving as Chairman and CEO of Sumco Group since acquisition in April 2020.

 Prior to establishing Acuity Capital Group in 2019, Will was Versatile Processing Group’s (VPG) President and CEO. He spent 10 years at VPG in various capacities managing operations and enhancing the commercial footprint, growing VPG to one of the largest niche nonferrous metal processors in North America. 

 Will has also worked as an advisory consultant to various private equity firms and industrial companies throughout his career. 

 Will earned his MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University. He also graduated with a Bachelor’s in Accounting and Finance from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. 

 Will currently resides in Indianapolis with his wife and growing family of 3 boys.

Matthew T Hurrle

Senior Associate

Matt is an Associate at Acuity Capital Group. He is responsible for all aspects of deal sourcing, evaluation, and execution, as well as portfolio company management.

 Prior to joining Acuity, Matt was an interim CFO at Sumco Group. While at Sumco Group, he lead the financial and accounting functions of the Company, and helped guide the company post-transaction. Matt also previously worked as a Senior Consultant at Deloitte in a variety of areas including audit, advisory, and consulting services. 

 Matt graduated from the Krannert School of Management at Purdue University with a Bachelor’s in Accounting and Finance. He is a certified public accountant in Indiana. 

 Matt currently resides in Chicago with his fiancé. They are getting married New Year’s Eve 2022.


Shane A. Willis

Operating Partner

Shane Willis is an Operating Partner at Acuity Capital Group (ACG) and partners with both the Sumco and ABC Metals management teams to execute strategic and operational initiatives.  

 Over a 20-year career, Shane has developed expertise in leading and establishing corporate vision and developing functional plans to increase enterprise value across multiple business segments and industries stretching from metal processing to oil recycling to textile manufacturing throughout the US and Mexico. 

 Prior to joining Sumco, Shane served as Executive Vice President at Emerald Transformer from 2011 to 2019.  During his tenure, the company increased its revenues and market share three-fold through organic growth and strategic acquisitions. 

 At Emerald Transformer’s sister-company, Versatile Processing Group (VPG) Shane held various key roles in operational and commercial leadership from 2006 to 2011. 

 Shane earned his MBA from Mississippi State University and his Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Texas Tech University. 

 Shane currently resides in the Indianapolis area with his wife, two daughters and one son. 


Robert M Bierwagen

Robert Bierwagen serves as Vice President of Information Technology at Acuity Capital Group (ACG) and leads a team which maintains and develops both the hardware and software infrastructure for all ACG portfolio companies.

 Over Bob’s extensive career he has held executive positions in IT, Operations, Development, Technology and Sales in both manufacturing and software businesses - including Creo and Kodak.

He served as CIO and VP of Digital Strategy with Indianapolis based MPI Corp for the past 11 years, and during that tenure was  executive leader for the development of the ABC Metals software operating infrastructure.

 Bob serves as a member of the Rockwell Automation/Plex Mfg Cloud Customer Advisory Council, is an Outside Director of Suttle-Straus of Madison, WI, and serves as Treasurer for Apprentice University Foundation. He is an NAPL Certified Financial Executive, and has worked closely with Purdue resources in the development of Smart Manufacturing capabilities in cooperation with the Wabash Heartland Innovation Network (WHIN), Dausch Center for Manufacturing Management Excellence (DCCME), and the Indiana Manufacturing Institute (IMI).

 He resides in the Indianapolis with his wife where they have raised 5 children, and enjoy time with their 4 grandchildren.
